Anonymous Story: Used

Here is my Story,

I was posted to Kano (North) 2019 where I served during NYSC (National Youth Service Corps). Upon completion of the mandatory 21 days of orientation camp I and a friend who I met at camp had nowhere to go from there. But unlike different parts of the country, you could easily go on for hours without seeing anyone who understands you if you don’t speak Hausa depending on where in the State you are. After about 30 minutes of receiving our posting letters my friend remembered a Lady who he used to know from his Days at ABSU (Abia State University) who once mentioned to him that she has a place in Kano and often comes around to purchase goods. We reached out to her and she gave us direction and even spoke to the driver who was to drop us at a certain location she mentioned.

He introduced me to the lady, her place was one room self-contain. We originally planned to pass 2 nights there and leave on the third day during which we must have located our various Place of Primary assignment (PPA).

However, at night she called me out and told me that I would not be staying there the next day unless I have sex with her. The next morning, I was already planning on getting to my PPA and leaving that day.

I got to my PPA using Opay ride and the aid of Google map and translate. The principal of the school told me that there is no accommodation which was a deal breaker for me since we were being paid N19,800 at the time of which that amount cannot cover feeding talk more of transport, data subscription and to add accommodation (Housing) was impossible. Already, I was seriously short of cash because I had to leave to Abia State (East) which will almost cut the 19,800 in half.

Seeing that I was unable to secure a Place of Primary Assignment that day, it was clear that I need extra time to sort things out. I had to get back to the lady on her demand for sex.

At the time it felt like there is nothing much about it. However, when we were done, I really hated myself and felt “used”. I had to call a friend who I could share things with and she sent me some cash to find a hotel to stay for like two days until I sort things out.

If you find yourself in this position in life, before things gets worse make a call if you can and talk to someone who can come to your aid. If it’s already happened, you can always seek for help.
